Florence Capela Jackson married Julius Caesar Judkins on June 10, 1919, at Richmond’s Ebenezer Baptist Church. He lived in Marion, Indiana, where he practiced law, but had studied earlier at Virginia Union University — perhaps their paths crossed then? Mrs. Judkins returned to Marion with her new husband but died little more than a year later after giving birth to their son, Julius Caesar Judkins Jr. He followed in his father’s footsteps and became a lawyer before his untimely death at age 35.
